Voice to Parliament

The Prime Minister has now announced the date of the upcoming Voice to Parliament Referendum.

Australians will be given the opportunity to vote on Saturday, 14 October 2023.

This referendum will be an opportunity for Australia to take another step forward on the path of reconciliation with First Nations People. It will be about two things; Recognition and Listening.

On the 14th of October, Australians will be asked to recognise one of the oldest continuous cultures on Earth in our Constitution and we will be asked to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are listened to on the policies that affect them.

For your vote to be counted you must write the word YES or NO in full.

Bringelly Postal Service Issues Resolved

Many residents in Bringelly have expressed concerns with the delivery of their mail and packages.

After advocating on their behalf, Australia Post have now advised that the issue has been resolved and further measures will be implemented to ensure that residents continue to receive their mail without issue.

If you are still experiencing issues with your mail delivery, get in contact with my office.

South West Festival

It was a pleasure to attend this year’s South West festival, the first since 2019 before the COVID pandemic.

From food stalls, petting zoos, a car show and even a mermaid show, events like these are a great opportunity for locals to enjoy a day out close to home.

There was an amazing turn out and I would like to thank everyone who stopped by my stall for a chat.

A huge shoutout to all those involved in organising the festival and to the Principal Ross Whelan. Mr Whelan will be retiring at the end of this year and I would like to thank him for his 16 years of service to our community. It has been a pleasure to work with him and I wish him all the best in the next stage of his life.

Mr Jason Wood

I recently met with Mr Jason Wood and presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation for his service in East Timor and Iraq.

It is always an honour to meet with Australians who have served our country.

Thank you Mr Wood for your service to Australia.

If you or someone you know has served, you can apply for a Certificate of Appreciation for military service on the link below.

If you or someone you know are worried about scams, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has made 'The Little Black Book of Scams', a great handbook filled with useful information on how to protect yourself against scams.

Bushfire Season

The upcoming bushfire season will be the most significant since the 2019-2020 black summer bushfires.

Whilst an El Nino has yet to be declared, the upcoming summer is expected to be drier and hotter than the previous few years and with that comes an increased risk of fires.

It is important that you keep up to date with the latest information via the Rural Fire Service website linked below and ensure you have prepared yourself, your family, and your home.

Fee-Free TAFE Targets Smashed

The latest federal data shows that the Albanese Labor Government’s Fee-Free TAFE initiative has attracted over 215,000 enrolments in its first 6 months well over the target of 180,000.

Fee-Free TAFE is helping Australians acquire new skills that will allow them to access well-paid jobs in sectors with critical skill shortages and it provides students with cost-of-living relief.

This is the result of genuine partnership and collaboration between the Federal Government and the States and Territories.
