Macquarie Fields Station Upgrade

After many years of advocating, alongside the Hon. Annoulack Chanthivong MP and members of the community, Macquarie Fields Station will finally receive a long overdue upgrade.

I made a speech in Parliament commending the Minns’ Government’s commitment to the upgrade of Macquarie Fields Station to increase accessibility.

Community Scams Forum

I will be hosting a Community Forum with the Assistant Treasurer, the Hon Stephen Jones MP, to discuss scams and how to keep yourself safe online and when answering the phone.

There has been significant interest and spaces are limited.

If you are interested please contact my office to secure your place.

If you are unable to attend, my office can provide a copy of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission's 'The Little Black Book of Scams', a useful resource on scams and how to protect yourself.

Tax Cuts For All Australians

On the 1st of July, the Albanese Labor Government will deliver a tax cut for every worker in Werriwa.

Labor’s tax cuts will deliver a bigger tax cut for middle Australia to help with the cost of living.

I recently spoke on the Albanese Government’s tax changes and how they will benefit our community.

Closing Loopholes Legislation

The Albanese Labor Government has closed workplace loopholes which have been used to undermine the conditions and wages of workers.

These new laws would:

  • End the concept of a permanent casual by providing a proper pathway for casuals seeking to convert to more secure permanent work

  • Introduce world-leading minimum standards for gig economy workers such as rideshare drivers and delivery riders

  • Ensure a safe, sustainable and viable trucking industry

  • Stopping unpaid overtime for workers through unreasonable contact out of hours

Peter Dutton and the Liberals and Nationals have voted against this legislation every step of the way.

They want to keep wages low and hold workers back.

Only a Labor Government will fight for better conditions for all workers.

Migrant Worker Exploitation

The Albanese Government has passed new legislation to tackle the exploitation of migrant workers.

Up to one in six recent migrants to Australia are exploited, being paid less than the minimum wage. This exploitation affects all Australians, driving down the wages and conditions of all workers.

From 1 July 2024, those who exploit a worker because of their visa status will face prison time, penalties and fines will triple, and employers who mistreat workers will be banned from hiring any worker on a temporary visa.

These new measures will help workers raise their concerns and will target employers who exploit workers.
