HOXTON PARK BUSINESSES IGNORED BY NSW GOVERNMENT

Small and family-run businesses in Liverpool are facing potential ruin after submissions made regarding proposed work to Hoxton Park Rd were ignored by Transport for NSW.

State Member for Liverpool, Mr Paul Lynch MP, says “This is outrageous. The State Liberal Government have demonstrated nothing but contempt for the businesses at Hoxton Park Shopping Centre and the nearby residents. Their consultation was a sham. The responsible Minister, Andrew Constance, has been far too busy focusing on his political future to make sensible decisions over issues such as this.”

Anne Stanley MP, Federal Member for Werriwa, said that “the small businesses, many of them run by families, that operate out of Hoxton Park Shopping Centre will now have to deal with access limitations.

“It’s reprehensible that while these businesses are battling the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NSW Liberal Government has ignored their submissions and will now push ahead with their plans that could ultimately ruin them,” she said.

“They are struggling enough right now.

“There is no point in undertaking consultation and asking for submissions if you don’t listen to the people that these works will impact on the most.

“The Minister for Transport needs to put a hold on this project, and immediately look into the proposal and the way in which consultation was carried out,” said Ms Stanley.

Ms Stanley has launched an online petition at www.annestanley.com.au/hoxtonparkrd

“I urge anyone concerned about the NSW Liberal Government not listening to the local community to sign this petition and stand up for the businesses, families and locals who will be effected by these proposed changes,” she said.
