Inflation Falls Further Than Expected in November

The Member for Werriwa, Ms Anne Stanley MP, welcomed recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) showing that inflation continues to fall.

The November Consumer Price Index (CPI) came in at 4.3 per cent, lower than expected and down from 4.9 per cent in October.

Inflation is now at its lowest point since January 2022 and down significantly since the highest inflation reading of 7.8 per cent in December 2022.

“Whilst this is welcome news for many in our community, I understand that people are still under pressure.”

The data shows that Government policies from the energy bill relief to the increase in Commonwealth Rent Assistance have helped to ease the pressures on Australians and put downward pressure on inflation.

The Albanese Labor Government will continue to focus on the cost of living in 2024.

“I will continue to raise the concerns of our community within Parliament and work, as part of an Albanese Labor Government, to support Australians impacted by the cost of living.”
