National Carers Week and Support for Carers
This year marks the 30th anniversary of National Carers Week, which celebrates the vital contribution carers make to our nation. 2.65 million Australians are unpaid carers – 1 in 9 people. Each year, they provide up to 2.2 billion hours in unpaid care.
“The work of carers cannot be understated. They support the most vulnerable in our communities and their invaluable work should be both appreciated and supported” said Ms Stanley MP.
The Albanese Labor Government is delivering on its election commitment to better assist carers and has announced a campaign designed to encourage carers to reach out and use the Carer Gateway Program.
Carer Gateway is a free support program that aims to help carers navigate and access services that may be available to them.
“It can be difficult to know what support services are available to you, and often many carers are not sure where to start. Carer Gateway is there to provide carers with an easy point of contact.”
